INDEX_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

My name's Geoffrey David Barr Watson. I've been designing, coding, staring at nature and figuring out how to make web sites since I was 13 years old. It's always been a hobby, never a business, and I plan to keep my morals based around just that. I usually work alone, in my house, in a park, or wherever I seek the inspiration necessary, however from time to time I'll work alongside another Toronto artist and close friend; Rose Broadbent. In many cases you'll see that I refer to her through each website's biography. This is my temporary portfolio until I scrounge up enough cash to pay myself for a new one!

2008_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________MYSPACE DESIGN

Myspace design has been a growing interest amongst bands and individuals alike. I've spent a lot of time in the past 2 years deciphering and figuring out how it really works. Such a modern community demands modern design, and that is what I aim to achieve through these designs.

www.METAart.ca

SPRING 2009

META was Ryerson University's 4th Year Exhibition for the graduating class which I was actually part of! Shane O'Neill and I worked on all the graphic and web content for the show, and all the fundraisers leading up to it. In the end it was a great success, and I'm so thankful for being part of such a strong movement of talented artists. Lookout Toronto, we JUST graduated.

www.nextbigpicture.com

SPRING 2009

Next Big Picture is a charity / advertising company who plans to help cut advertising costs for companies by offering cheap, effective ad spacewhich will be printed in TIME Magazine! The concept is really interested, and focuses on an emerging genre of "pixel advertisement". I was in charge of all graphic and visual content, as well as the little animation present on their site.

www.function.ryerson.ca

WINTER 2008

Rose and I were asked to do this website for a Ryerson University student run magazine entitled Function. With this web site we attempted to capture elements of flash on a quick-loading, html based website. The design is very simple, but we think the creativity behind the navigation system brings it to life!

www.mansourigroupinc.com

SUMMER 2008

I've been working with the Mansouri Group for quite some time now. I do a lot of small jobs, and some larger ones as well. They are a very professional company and I can safely say I enjoy working with such professionalism. This site was designed by their in house team, and I merely tweaked it a little bit and threw it into Flash !

www.goshgarian.com

SPRING 2008

Robert Goshgarian is one of the best photographers I have ever seen...... I need not say more. Please visit this site and enjoy his work, not mine.

(this site was completed with Rose Broadbent)

www.gc67.com

SPRING 2008

A friend of mine came to me with a new clothing company entitled Gentlemen's Clothing '67. He told me he wanted something that really depicted his company, which was meant to be sleek, old-fashioned and unique. We worked through multiple concepts and finally decided on creating an entire room! We're both very pleased with the outcome and I look forward to watching his company grow.

www.imperialmeasures.com

WINTER 2008

Imperial Measures was an art show put on by the New Media students at Ryerson University. I'm actually in New Media, at Ryerson, and this was my 3rd Year final project. I developed a web site for the art show, as well as all it's branding including a logo, flyers, posters, invites, pamphlets and more. This was my first time completely handling all of the print materials, as well as the printing process. It was a huge success!

www.hilaryfarrdesign.com

WINTER 2008

Hilary Farr Design was the first project of 2008. Rose and I worked on her site to achieve sleekness and modernity. She runs a TV show which will be airing sometime this summer. We look forward to seeing how it turns out!

www.optiadmedia.com

SPRING 2006 - PRESENT

I began to work on Optiadmedia's web site in early 2006 when a friend of mine came to me with word of a new company. Initially I just designed the logo however within a short period of time the business took off and a website was in need. Now Optiadmedia does work for such clients as Nintendo, Nokia, Kokanee, Billabong, Labatt Blue, and many others. I frequently update their site and I can easily say it's an enjoyable, on-going project.

www.creativequotient.com

SUMMER 2007

I actually worked at Creative Quotient in the outskirts of downtown Toronto throughout the summer of 2007. I had the chance to sit alongside their talented Graphic Designers Dee Loft and Christine Mackenzie, to create this web site. It took a total of 3 months, including all photographs taken of CQ's work, and during that time I produced a few other works for them as well.

www.hightide-productions.ca

WINTER 2007

Hightide Productions was a great client to work with. I began working with them in early January '07, which marked it the first site of the new year! Playing off their "surfer" style, Rose and I had a lot of fun mixing bright colours and hawaiin flowers. Connecting with Producer Laura Meucci was great and I perform updates on their site from time to time.

www.millionsstrong.com

SPRING 2005

This is my own band's site and was one of my favorite sites, primarily due to the colours used. Earth tones are my favorite, especially when combined with scripture-like writing and an old-fashioned feel. I love using paper textures and books, as you may be able to tell after viewing. We're well overdue for a revamp.

www.nigelpwatson.com

FALL 2005 - 2006

Nigel Watson was my favorite client! He was easy going, let me do most the work, paid me the money, and then asked me to walk the dogs. Did I mention he's my dad? He's also a Toronto based lawyer focusing primarily in real estate. I created his site in 2005 I believe, however the final product came out around mid 2006.

www.ship-shape.net

FALL 2006

Ship Shape was recommended to me by a friend of a friend in late 2006. Working with owner and founder Jonny Marler was great and everything worked out just as planned. The logo had been established just before he came to me, so it was a simple matter of placement and colour matching. The website is simple in terms of coding and animation, but it remainds visually pleasing which is why I like it.

www.lukewillmsmusic.com

FALL 2006 - WINTER 2007

Luke Willms came to Rose and I in search of a web site when he was mid-way through his CD. Luke is a musician from Waterloo and when I first met him in person, which was well after the website's completion, we figured out our bands had played together in Toronto years before! What a small world. Again, you can see the use of earth tones in this site, which flows with a lot of his morals and beliefs. This site was completed in late 2006.

www.virtuesandvices.ca

SPRING 2007

Virtues & Vices was a fashion show coordinated by students in the Ryerson Fashion program. Rose and I created their website in Spring 2007 and as you can see, the use of texture was once again present in order to emphasize the materials used in many of the dresses. Everything went as planned and we were happy to work with other students.

FUTURE_______________________________________________________________________________________________________WEB DESIGN (coming soon)

I am starting an art collective with my cousin Jamie McMahon, and friend Gujeet Bassi (current producers for Three Part Productions). All future work I produce will be done through this collective!

The New Beat will be launched within the next 2 months. Stay tuned.
